Yellow Dog Farm is located in the town of South Hero on South Hero Island in the middle of Lake Champlain. Our island town is officially part of northwestern Vermont. We started our mohair yarn operation in 2005 with the purchase of 3 bred female Angora goats. Four kids were born in May of that year and a buck, Shiloh, and his buddy, Oliver, were added in the summer of 2006. The goat shed that was built in the fall of 2004 was expanded during the fall of 2006 with the addition of a 24′ by 30′ two story barn with hayloft. Space was set-aside in the new barn for a wood turning wood working shop. We now have 12 goats! Our 3 youngest are Julia, Kevin and George, all Oscar winners!

Here is a unique item for the handspinner in your life. It is a distaff that hangs from your wrist when using a drop spindle. It allows the spinner to wrap the rovings around the cord. Hanging below is the “wraps per inch” tool to determine the type of yarn being spun.
The loop length is approximately 9 inches. The wrist distaffs are made from a variety of woods: maple, cherry, birch, walnut. Beads are made from polymer clay in many colors. Weight is approximately .7 ounces. The wrist distaff pictured is representative of the distaff you will receive. If you would like a special wood for your wrist distaff please convo us and we will do our best to create it for you.
